We are looking for someone to join our team as a Caretaker to help us maintain our property and to welcome hirers and users of our building.
Job/Role: The Caretaker will work alongside the trustees and other volunteers to keep our building tidy, welcoming and working well. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the life of the church as a centre for community life and will play a key role in making all feel welcome into the building. The primary tasks and activities will be to:
Ensure that the premises are accessible and available for regular users/hirers and any contractors who are scheduled to carry out works in the building
Engage with hirers to ensure that they understand their obligations when hiring the premises and how to operate any facilities they will be using, correctly and safely
Maintain a record of bookings by hirers, in order to notify the Finance Administrator of usage to be invoiced each month
Make minor repairs to property and fixtures where this is feasible and appropriate
We employ a cleaner and there will be a requirement to provide holiday cover for this task. Also, there will be some physical activity involved; such as sweeping leaves from the drive, gritting access paths as/when required and moving waste collection bins to the roadside.
The successful candidate must be able to work variable hours in line with the needs of the church and will be able and happy to work both on their own and as part of a team, taking instruction from their Line Manager. They must be able to provide evidence of experience in maintaining property and keeping records of servicing of equipment. They should be able to use basic computer software to maintain booking records.
Hours: will be variable, in line with the needs of the post but it is expected to be 14 hours a week, spread over up to four days a week. This may include some evenings, on an ad-hoc basis, to open and close the building for hirers.
Salary: £14 per hour

The package includes statutory holidays and statutory sick pay only. You may be entitled to join a contributory workplace pension scheme after a probationary period of three months.
